Award for East Midlands Tennis Team

The team who represented the East Midlands in the tennis event in the National Special Olympics Games held in Leicester in July 2009 was awarded Team of the Year at the Nottinghamshire LTA Awards evening held on 9th February 2010.

The team of Katherine Ashcroft, Zara Jurenko, Michael Clarke, Joseph Eccles, Alex Eustace, Leigh Foster, Thomas Styles and Steven Uttley are all part of the tennis squad who train at West Bridgford Tennis Club under coach Lesley Whitehead. The team competed in singles and doubles winning 7 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals and a 4th place ribbon.

On the night the team won the award over the Ladies Senior County team who competed in Division 1 of the National County Week.
